Bryn Oh, an undisputed artist in Second Life, has opened to the public a new art installation entitled ‘Aural‘ in collaboration with Morlita Quan.
The installation is housed in a 5k prims homestead and is characterized by the importance the artists attached to sound. This prominence can be seen in the title itself, “Aural“.
Bryn Oh no needs an introduction. He is a Canadian artist who has been characterized by large-scale art installations that have been recognized not only by Linden Lab but also by renowned universities. Bry Oh’s blog is an important reference point for exploring the artistic journey of this Canadian artist.
Morlita Quan also has her own blog where you can see her artwork and musical works to explore her creativity over the last few years.
As for the latest installation, “Aural”, the video made by the same Canadian artist and uploaded to his YouTube channel is interesting.
During my visit to the installation created in collaboration with Morlita Quan, I was able to appreciate the creativity of the two Second Life artists through the combination of the three-dimensionality created by Bryn Oh and the sounds elaborated by Morlita Quan. This collaboration resulted in an art installation with a strong communicative and visual impact. Like any installation, it is up to the visitor to give it the meaning that best suits him or her. First of all, from a technical point of view, it is important to remember that the light settings of the Region must be accepted in order to obtain the best possible experience. It is extremely important to have the light and shadow settings active, as shown in the following image created using the Firestorm Viewer.
This importance is dictated by the fact that there are certain refractions, projections that are only visible through the combination of light and shadow settings as well as windlight chosen specifically by the artist for the Region. Another extremely important aspect is the fact that multimedia is active. In fact, there are some aspects of the installation that would escape your attention if you did not have media enabled. Obviously, it is mandatory to have the sounds active, in order to enjoy Morlita Quan’s creativity in the realization of this installation in its aural part.
I, too, had the pleasure of making a video on the occasion of visiting this wonderful art installation, which I present to you in this blog post. I recommend that you visit the installation in person because the movement of the avatar makes changes in the light settings that cannot be perceived through the simple movement of the camera. That’s why I advise you to walk along the easily perceived path because only with the passage of the avatar the light settings in that specific area are changed. So do not simply move the camera to look around, but walk along with the installation.
I believe that “Aural” is an excellent art installation in Second Life, which consecrates, once again, the strong presence of Artists in the virtual world of Linden Lab.

“Meeting Dido Haas was definitely a milestone in my journey in the art world as she challenged me to ‘travel inside myself’ for this exhibition. I accepted that challenge and tried to express thoughts and emotions, using only my body and the presence or absence of light. I dared to make myself the main subject of my frame, something I usually don’t do. Without colors, mostly without unnecessary objects, the more I traveled the more discoveries I made. I came closer to me than usual.
I never imagined how exciting, painful and liberating this journey could be… Sometimes it felt like a dip in the deep waters. It was a journey in light and darkness, like Apollo and Hades were my companions. And there I found my ‘new me’.
Moments from this trip is the content of my first exhibition, with which I introduce myself and my ‘new me’ to you. And I am happy this ‘baptism of fire’ is taking place at the Nitroglobus Gallery. Thanks, Dido Haas, for the challenge…
I don’t see myself as an artist, I am a passenger with open eyes in this journey of life and second life…“ Mihailsk

Bamboo Barnes Bio
Self–taught artist, creating digital art in virtual worlds (Second life) since 2011
“I began making images in Second life in 2011 with avatar screenshots. Seeing 3D installation works in SL in 2013 changed my art-making path completely, as I fell in love with them. Since then, I am on my way. After 10 years I am still making images in the metaverse of SL as an artist, I am learning and developing everyday:
Art is never finished, just abandoned. The artworks in this exhibit are about my emotions which aren’t clear to see. I hope that you will see something in them for you. Life goes on.” Bamboo Barnes
Bamboo Barnes wishes to thank: “Hans Goosson for your constant support. Haveit Neox , Theda Tammas, Livio Korobase, JadeYu Fhang, Cherry Manga, Rebeca Bashly, Giovanna Cerise, Bryn Oh , Mistero Hifeng and all other 3D installation artists. Your artworks make me stay in Second life. Thank you to all the gallery owners and curators for your endless patience and support.“
