Right now, I am in front of the entrance of the structure that will host the return after almost four years of Seth ReganSL Rock Star Mankind Tracer. The comeback of this singer intrigued me since I asked myself why LL gives so much prominence to a single singer. So I went to look for his YouTube Channel, where he presents his songs, his covers, and his various performances. I must admit that this singer is particularly great.
I’m not a music expert, but let’s say that everyone loves good music, and in some way, we all manage to perceive it. Seth plays the guitar and sings at the same time, and this aspect makes his performance very interesting. I don’t have much information about this singer since I haven’t been able to get more news from the artist’s staff, especially regarding his departure from the Second Life for almost four years. What I know I read like everyone else from other articles of the time in which Seth was used to performing in SecondLife. I read about the sad disappearance of his wife and his difficult subsequent period in which he had to take care of his children alone. But now we are celebrating his return, after some time, and I am sure that many will be present at his performance on Sunday. His comeback is partly financed by Linden, who made 4 SIM available for the occasion.
Out of curiosity, I’m also reading some comments published under the SecondLife destinations page related to the event. In particular, these comments refer to the fact that part of the proceeds from the event will go to the World Health Organization. Many of these comments criticize the fact that Linden’s policy on charity collections is unclear. Many people collect for charity and also obtain several positive results; however, rarely Linden Lab contributes directly by offering free SIMs. So many people commented wonder what the LL’s rules are, and why some people are privileged over others. Someone else has also criticized the fact that it is only a part of the proceeds will go to charity, while the other half will remain the singer. However, after yesterday’s LabGab video, where Ebbe Linden and Brett Linden attended, it is clear that the entire proceeds from the event will go to charity. Beyond the controversies, I think that the event is essential because it allows people to listen to quality music and, at the same time, to do good. So I invite everyone to be present this Sunday, 29 March, at 2 PM SLT for the return of Seth Regan to SecondLife.
I finally managed to use the 300 L$ credit offered (until tomorrow) by Addams, the famous clothing store. The shop is providing credit to all its group members with which it is possible to buy clothes at the main store. Of course, as you can imagine, many people are trying to collect this credit. So the store is often full, and it is difficult to move. Above all, it is challenging to be able to get to the panel inside the shop where customers can get the credit, and for this reason, I recommend you to control if you got the credit when you try to buy an item. I didn’t get any message, so I didn’t know if I got the credit.
Once you collected the credit to purchase what interests you, right-click on the object you want to buy, choose Menu, wait for a window to open where you can select the “buy with store credit.” In this way, you see your credit (I had 640 L$, maybe because I collected a credit in the past and I didn’t know).
Today I was looking for an elegant look, with calm colors, and that would allow me a practically infinite color combination. I didn’t want to go to the usual events; I didn’t want to go to the shops I already knew.
I wanted to explore something new instead, so I made a commitment, and I searched the Marketplace several stores until I found this one that does not have a shop inworld, but that has an extensive and quality gallery of products. Its name is Baii Maii, and its goal is both the mesh quality and the chance to change the color using a HUD that gives you infinite possibilities.
The quality is evident, also reading the reviews that have customers left, all enthusiastic. The looks that this shop offers are both sober and sophisticated, and very provocative and tantalizing. The style that I made today it only costs 274 L$, but if you want to add also the shoes, you have to pay more 495 L$ (all colors).

In particular, Linden Lab focuses on business, explaining how the virtual world can undoubtedly be helpful to people who need to meet, interact with each other, pass on material, see a video together, and many other things all within the same virtual environment. We are also talking about a stable virtual environment, which does not fall continuously, and where people have the opportunity to exchange views and pass on material and information useful for carrying out their business. In an interesting video made by Draxtor, you can explore how Second Life is used for educational purposes. Some universities implemented the possibility of creating virtual classrooms where pupils interact with each other and with the professor. The classes are like the real ones where the pupils have the opportunity to confront the professor and each other. As we know, there are platforms such as Skype, Google Meet, and many others that allow this form of interaction. But anyone who has experienced these forms of communication knows that, beyond a certain number of users, a crush is practically inevitable.
Linden Lab would like to point out that this Second Life promotion for business and distance education has not the intention to speculate on the awkward moment we are experiencing. It seemed to make a shabby promotion of its product by taking advantage of the situation.
I think Second Life is a tool, so what you do with it is your responsibility. You can use the tool well or poorly, of course. This one is up to you. As I said in the previous article, at this moment, it can be a great help, both as a distraction tool and as an interaction tool.
In my previous post, I dealt with the topic of distraction, but in fact, Second Life is also a powerful tool for interaction. There are live events in which up to 100 people can attend at the same time and follow the same function.
In my opinion, it can be an excellent tool. Psychologically it is essential to recreate the same environment that you would have within real Real Life. So if we talk about educational aspects, it is crucial to create an actual class within the virtual environment, so that people feel comfortable as they are in a known context.
I think it is an excellent idea to promote Second Life as an interaction tool and a valid alternative to other devices such as Skype, Google Meet, and many others that do not, however, allow interaction with many people at the same time.
A week ago, I wrote a post saying that VIRTUALITY stopped the publication due to the problematic situation that Italy is experiencing right now.
Today I can say that the situation has not improved; in fact, there are still numerous deaths significant daily, innumerable hospitalizations, and various conditions of intensive care undoubtedly necessary. In the majority of cases, however, it must be said that deaths affect 0.8% of completely healthy people. It means that mortality mainly affects people of a certain age, especially if they have pathology or even more previous pathologies. Unfortunately, in Italy, the average age is particularly high, and cases of previous pathologies have been numerous in subjects who contracted the virus. Surely it has also been cases of healthy young people who have experienced a nightmare after the infection.
Some people contract the virus and have no symptoms. These are the most dangerous because they spread the virus without knowing it, even believing that they are perfectly healthy.
Right now, I am at home, I do my work from my computer, and I can’t get out because there is a quarantine requirement. For those who leave without a real reason, the Italian law introduced severe penalties, up to 12 years in prison. The offense being disputed is pandemic. During this period of spread virus in Italy, the State introduced new criminal and administrative regulations.
Second Life is an excellent opportunity to stay in touch with people with whom a real meeting is not possible. I decided to continue writing on the blog because it is also a way to get distracted. Everyday life is difficult, because the media put a dramatic situation in front of us, which we would never have imagined until a couple months ago. Italy has overtaken China in terms of deaths; every day, the bulletin is worrying about the death numbers media offer us. More experts cannot say when the virus will peak and therefore, cannot make realistic predictions on when this situation will end.
At the moment the schools are closed, all the activities are suspended, and the only shops that remain open are the food ones. The roads are empty, a few cars with some special needs are enough, but along the way, it is easy to run into the police and the army. I think I have seen such a situation only in apocalyptic films, and today it is, unfortunately, a sad reality. Even among my acquaintances, some people have become infected, just as there are people who are dead.
Unfortunately, I see that other states that have not yet known the severity and danger of this virus are waiting to underestimate its extent. In reality, it is a difficult situation.
At this moment, Second Life can be a great help. The possibility of staying in contact with people, having fun watching a live concert, going to dance with friends, visiting an art exhibition or playing together, is a great help much more than you can imagine.
What I would like to say to all those who still do not experience this problem seriously is not to underestimate it. All those like me live it every day know that the problem exists and is dramatic. However, if it were not so, the states would not take the measures they are implementing, and the World Health Organization would not make the statements that we all know.
