Olga Orel shared some high-definition make-up images on Facebook and piqued the curiosity of those who are (understandably) wondering if Genus will be making heads again.
As the new year approaches, there will be some exciting news. Curiosity is skyrocketing!
The end of 2022 seems to have brought fresh air regarding mesh bodies. In October, 4 bodies were released for two brands: Belleza and Prima (Belleza Gen X Classic/Curvy and Prima Busty/Petite). The release of new mesh bodies enriches the market and gives something new to the experiences of women in Second Life (the new bodies are, in fact, female).
While on the one hand, the Second Life market is getting richer, on the other, designers are confused about which brands to choose: yes, because a choice has to be made; you can’t rig for 10 bodies or more. Furthermore, designers aren’t the only ones feeling confused: even buyers of new brands are starting to feel a little frustrated because the market doesn’t offer them enough choices in what to wear. Reading on Discord here and there, I learned that some designers have been verbally assaulted for not offering clothing for specific bodies.
As a designer, I, too, find myself in difficulty and have been uncertain about how to proceed, especially with the advent of the new year. As a young designer, I thought that the right choice for me was rigging for those bodies that I have sold the most in these few months of activity. Therefore, compared to my practice, I chose to remove a brand (it is a body that is not easy to rig and has an exclusive developer kit for Blender 2.79).
I realized that the various surveys’ results differ from the brands I sell the most. Therefore, I believe that the best choice for a designer is to look at his sales statistics and start making decisions from there.
What will be the future of these mesh body brands? Only time will be able to answer this question: the community will choose and decree the success of some brands. I wish the new year didn’t bring body makers who complain about few designers and shoppers who complain about few clothes for their bodies. In both cases, the market decides: if a body doesn’t sell, the designer takes it away. Rigging is challenging and time-consuming, so “the game has to be worth the candle.”
Troppi corpi mesh?
