A Final Resonance: Tia Rungray’s “Noise Classical” Marks 12-Year Milestone and the Closing Night of BAR Laverita

In the digital calm of Second Life, a significant musical event is about to happen. On September 26th, acclaimed electroacoustic artist Tia Rungray will return to the cozy space of BAR Laverita for a performance celebrating both a 12-year anniversary and a heartfelt goodbye.

This live concert, titled “piano & noise”, will create a soundscape where the soft, lingering notes of the piano meet the captivating clash of noise a defining feature of Tia Rungray’s style, “Noise Classical”.

Tia Rungray is the self-produced electronic acoustic project of Takayuki Noami, an art and sound producer representing Non-REM Studio. Since the release of the debut work Foresta in 2013, the project has attracted audiences in the Tokyo metropolitan area and the metaverse, especially in Second Life.

The music combines a distinctive style, influenced by ambient, post-classical, noise music, and shoegaze. This brilliant blend of classical structure and sound texture led the famous composer Akira Senju to praise the first nationally distributed album, MindgEsso (2018), stating, “I feel like I’ve heard the sound of the future”.

From working with Yorihisa Taura on the album Juvenile (2020) to producing stunning performances like LIVE: Ghostmarch (2022) and the recent LIVE: Emptimythia (2024), Tia Rungray has defined the leading edge of virtual musical experiences. This performance offers a chance to see that history culminate on a truly historic night.

The venue for this important event, BAR Laverita, is a beloved virtual hideaway. Known as a small music café where time feels slow, it has long been a favorite spot for its beautiful evening views and the moving resonance of its piano.

Importantly, BAR Laverita is where Tia Rungray gave their first live performance twelve years ago.

Returning to this spiritual home marks a significant milestone in the artist’s journey. Yet the night is filled with deeper emotion: September 26, 2025, will be BAR Laverita’s last day of operation.

This is more than just a concert; it serves as a memorial, a tribute to the community and creativity nurtured within its digital walls. It is a chance to experience the artist’s work—guided by the expert sound and art production of Tia Rungray (Non-REM Studio) where it all started, as the venue takes its final bow.
