The Art of Personal Expression

For as long as she can remember, Smilla Fredriksson has been driven by a love for dreaming and a need to capture the magic of a moment or the deep feeling of a particular place. This intrinsic need for expression has led her through various creative disciplines.

• Diverse Artistic Practice: Smilla’s artistic journey includes working for years as a stonecutter and sculptor, and she has played various instruments since the age of six, viewing music as a powerful way to express the innermost feelings. However, the camera has often been her primary tool for visual translation.

• The Intent: Crucially, Smilla emphasizes that all her creative endeavors are undertaken not with the intention of fame or earning a living, but purely for herself – to help her process and handle her thoughts and moods, and occasionally to bring pleasure to another person.

Smilla Fredriksson’s work is a moving testament to the power of art as a therapeutic and honest channel for self-expression, inviting viewers into the authentic and deeply reflective moments of her creative life.

This current exhibition is a diverse, personal collection of images captured throughout Smilla Fredriksson’s journey in Second Life. The showcase is rooted in the artist’s core intent: to transform the elusive feelings and internal moods awakened by virtual spaces into something visible and shared.

Each piece is a “reflected moment,” highlighting places and scenes that touched a string deep inside her, inviting the viewer to connect with the profound emotion captured within the frame.
