GUY PEELMAN

A New Chapter in Art

After facing a significant health challenge, a period of physical decline gave way to an extraordinary journey of creative revival for Guy Peelman. A year ago, following a successful surgical procedure that led to a full recovery, Guy made a bold decision: to pursue a long-held dream of creating beauty.

Using a variety of media including acrylic, pastel, and charcoal, he has since dedicated himself to bringing that dream to life. His work is a testament to the power of passion and the desire to find joy and expression after a time of hardship. Having already held two successful exhibitions alongside known artists, Guy now hopes to share this beauty with others, one brushstroke at a time, bringing a smile to the faces of those who welcome his art into their homes or offices.

“Sunshine Blues”

A dynamic, high-impact portrait that uses non-realistic color saturation to create a powerful psychological statement. The figure is rendered in deep, cool blues, which are intensely contrasted by the surrounding field of electric ochre and the bright reflection in the oversized yellow sunglasses. This work is a compelling exploration of dual vision and emotional projection, where the interior state (the “blues”) is shielded and transformed by a vibrant, outward-facing persona (“sunshine”). It’s a stylish and profound commentary on the mask of contemporary cool and the powerful mood conveyed by color contrast.

Warrior

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

A mesmerizing, macro-portrait that uses expressionistic color blocking to redefine the figure’s gaze. The vivid application of electric yellow and cobalt blue across the face functions as both a mask and a symbolic declaration, transforming the subject into a figure of fierce, unyielding intensity. This piece operates as a study of visual power and identity, where color is deployed not for realism, but for psychological impact and a sense of elemental strength.

Green room

120 cm x 100 cm Pastel Canvas katoen

SOLD

A moody, narrative-driven work that utilizes a distinct color palette and composition to suggest a moment of decision or emotional limbo. The solitary figure, facing away from the viewer, stands in a flat, evocative green space. The tension is built between the coat hanging on the wall and the figure’s elongated, distinct shadow, prompting a contemplation of hidden identity, vulnerability, and the weight of roles we assume and discard.

Hey Joe

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

A powerful and immediate close-up defined by bold, vigorous charcoal strokes that lend a visceral texture to the face. The extreme cropping and frontal composition create a sense of unfiltered, confrontational presence. With eyes closed, the subject’s expression suggests a moment of deep internal absorption, inviting the viewer to consider the weight and complexity conveyed through the sheer physicality of the drawn human form.

Whispers of a Red Petal

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A graphically striking portrait that fuses traditional artistry with contemporary stylization. The figure is defined by an interplay of serene grayscale skin and bold, geometric applications of red pigment, referencing theatrical makeup or symbolic ritual. The vibrant red floral crown above further complicates the narrative, making the piece a compelling exploration of performance, identity, and the power of symbolic color.

Self Control

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

An intimate and deeply meditative nude study, defined entirely by the play of white charcoal highlights on a black field. The dramatic chiaroscuro focuses on the internal moment of emotional containment, symbolized by the protective posture of the hands over the chest. The work is a masterclass in rendering form through light alone, transforming the figure into a sculpture of psychological stillness and quiet resolve.

Lady in red

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A dramatic juxtaposition of figure and flora, defined by intense saturation and deep charcoal tones. The subject’s upward gaze suggests a state of ecstasy or emotional transcendence, while the bold, visceral red of the flanking poppies acts as an extension of her passion and vitality. This artwork is a compelling study of power, beauty, and the symbiotic relationship between human emotion and the expressive language of nature.

Naked truth

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

A powerful, unvarnished study of the nude form, emphasizing the honesty of the female body. Executed on a warm, neutral background, the drawing uses highlights and shadow to delineate the curve of the torso, celebrating its form with directness and confidence. This piece is a clear statement on body positivity and self-acceptance, treating the figure with a classic, sculptural reverence while maintaining a contemporary and intimate presenc

Bound

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A fragmented portrait that uses stark contrast and conceptual geometry to explore themes of duality, tension, and self-reflection. The perfect, luminous profile is interrupted by a sharp, linear element that acts as a fractured mirror, suggesting internal conflict or a partially constructed persona. The work is a compelling visual dialogue between smooth organic form and angular restriction.

Echoes of Longing

120 cm x 90 cm Pastel

A moody and expressive portrait submerged in an atmosphere of intense feeling. The dramatic use of charcoal creates a softly blurred, dream-like quality, emphasizing the subject’s downturned gaze and closed-off posture. This piece is a study in intimate melancholy, capturing the beautiful, heavy quiet of a figure lost in personal reflection, memory, and desire.

Aviator

120 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A vibrant portrait that captures the unyielding spirit of vintage adventure. The strong, upward angle and the intense colors of the head wrap and goggles position the subject as a figure of aspiration and forward momentum. This piece explores the theme of courageous optimism, using the stark contrast of the confident profile against the airy sky to embody the exhilarating feeling of defying gravity and chasing the horizon.

Proud Woman

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A compelling portrait marked by the subject’s unwavering gaze and elegant posture. The figure is presented with deep tonal richness, harmonized with the warm, golden hues of the head wrap and drapery. This piece is a celebration of self-possession and inherent dignity, using masterful technique to convey a silent yet powerful sense of grace and internal strength.

Contemplation

70 cm x 100 cm Houtskool

A powerful study of light carving form from an infinite void. The figure’s dramatic upward gaze and elongated neck transform the portrait into a sculptural inquiry into spiritual and physical surrender. By eliminating all context, Peelman focuses the viewer entirely on the subtle interplay of light and shadow, suggesting a moment of suspended consciousness—a pause between the external world and internal revelation.

Peacock

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

SOLD

A magnificent, chromatic explosion of color that captures the opulent grandeur of the natural world. Peelman uses vibrant pastel strokes to render the subject’s purple body and luminous eye, contrasting the cool, deep blues with the electric brilliance of the feathers. This work is not merely a depiction of a bird, but a celebration of vanity, natural extravagance, and the sublime spectacle of color and form.

Elephant

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

An intensely focused and textured close-up that elevates the subject to a monumental presence. The deep furrows and ridges of the skin, rendered with exceptional detail, act as a topography of an ancient life, conveying wisdom and resilience. Peelman uses dramatic chiaroscuro to highlight the profound intelligence in the eye, creating a visceral connection that transforms the portrait into a meditation on wild majesty and the weight of history.

The Golden Skull

Sold – Commissioned Work

A striking graphic piece that fuses the stark reality of memento mori with the baroque beauty of ornamentation. The skull is rendered not through bone structure, but through intricate, flowing gold filigree against an absolute black field. This high-impact contrast elevates the subject from a simple macabre motif to a symbol of transient luxury and the eternal cycle of decay and renewal. It is a modern, meditative work that is both a powerful design statement and a commentary on vanity.

The Blue Woman

Sold – Commissioned Work

A monumental canvas that captures a moment of sublime, ecstatic release. The extreme upward tilt of the head and the visible tension in the throat convey a feeling of liberation or intense sensation. Rendered almost entirely in cool monochrome blues, the color becomes a metaphor for emotional depth or spiritual transcendence, elevating the realistic features into a powerful, idealized vision.

Portrait in Blue

Sold – Commissioned Work

A captivating chromatic study that explores the emotional temperature of color. Dominated by luminous shades of cerulean, turquoise, and deep indigo, the portrait transforms the figure’s inner world into a visible aura. The closed eyes and serene profile suggest a moment of profound meditation or inner submersion, where the external self dissolves into a fluid landscape of cool tones. This work is a vivid example of Peelman’s ability to use color to express sublimated feeling and mood.

The Golden Half

Sold – Commissioned Work

A striking mixed-media work that is a powerful commentary on duality, beauty, and artifice. The figure, rendered in stark grayscale, is dramatically contrasted by an application of brilliant gold leaf that appears to both enhance and consume one side of her face. The molten gold suggests a mask, a sudden transformation, or an emotional breakdown. This piece explores the complex tension between the genuine and the adorned, creating an unforgettable image of opulent fragility and self-construction.

Riders on the storm

Commissioned Work

A monumental canvas that channels the mythic energy of contemporary outlaws and brotherhood. Executed in striking black and white, the work is defined by the imposing figure in the foreground, whose intense, illuminated eyes and braided beard confer a patriarchal, Viking-like gravitas. The piece uses high-contrast realism to explore themes of unflinching defiance, loyalty, and the rugged romance of the open road, capturing the elemental power of figures who stand against the world.

Autumn Apple

Commissioned Work

A contemporary reinvention of the classic Dutch still life, using intense color and stark darkness to create a feeling of fragile, illuminated beauty. The composition is minimal—a slender glass bottle, delicate poppy flowers, and a single piece of fruit—but the use of light is anything but. The subjects emerge from the deep black background with an almost ethereal luminosity, prompting a contemplative appreciation for the temporal nature of beauty and the quiet elegance found in simple, domestic arrangements.

WILD ROSES

70 cm x 100 cm Pastel

A lush, hyper-realistic depiction of a floral cluster that transcends the traditional still life genre. Executed with a velvety texture and an almost tactile dimensionality, the painting celebrates the voluptuous beauty and fleeting perfection of nature. The deep, dark background throws the petals into sharp relief, using light to emphasize the rich, bruised tones of the blooms. This work is a meditation on ephemeral beauty, capturing the intricate, detailed language of natural form with exceptional drama.
