There is a specific kind of quiet that only arrives when the world turns white. It’s a silence that doesn’t just signify the absence of noise, but the presence of something heavy, cool, and transformative.

This December 28th at 1 PM SLT, the Kondor Art Center invites you to step out of the digital gale and into a space where the season isn’t something you watch through a window – it’s something you live within. Hermes Kondor presents Winter Contained, a masterful exhibition that challenges our very definition of shelter.

Usually, we think of architecture as our great defender against the elements. Walls are meant to keep the cold out and the comfort in. But in Winter Contained, Kondor quietly upends this logic.

In this collection, winter is no longer a season – it is a condition. It occupies the rooms we inhabit, settling on floors and stretching through corridors. Trees emerge from floorboards; snow blankets the places we once considered private and protected. The boundary between the interior and the exterior doesn’t just blur – it dissolves entirely.

“Interiors no longer protect from winter, but instead become its host. What is usually contained by walls now contains them in return.”

This isn’t an exhibition of high drama or frantic energy. Instead, it is a masterclass in restraint. As you wander through the Special Art Gallery 1, you’ll notice that the atmosphere is profoundly calm, yet it stops just short of being comforting.

There is a weight to the silence here. Each image feels suspended in time, as if the clock has slowed down or stalled entirely. By removing the human figure, Kondor forces us to look at the spaces that define us. The architecture itself becomes the protagonist – an active participant that shapes our emotions and our perception of stillness.

To truly inhabit these spaces, one must move slowly. This is not a gallery for a quick walk-through; it is a place to linger.

Setting the emotional tone for this journey is a Special DJ Set by Nikopol McMilan. As the co-owner of the renowned Midnight Cabaret and a long-time friend of the Kondor Art Center, Nikopol is celebrated for his ability to weave sonic narratives that resonate deep within the soul. His presence behind the decks ensures that the auditory experience will be as layered and evocative as the art on the walls.
