Creative expression, like nature itself, cannot remain dormant forever. At Gimle Theater, the hushed wonder of the woods is about to break into song again. Tomorrow, May 26th at 12 PM SLT the stage will welcome back a delightful musical fantasy called The Secret of Spring, an enchanting invitation to cross the threshold from winter to the belief of rebirth.
More than just movement synchronized on the stage, this is a deeply human, hearty look at friendship, life, and the unseen forces of growth we rely on. For those who appreciate how much hard work goes into a virtual production of this magnitude, the sheer scope is a true labor of love. Every rustle of the trees, every nuance of the atmosphere, every beat of each performer’s heart is intricately woven into a tapestry of pure art.
The core heartbeat of this production is carried by a brilliant collective of builders, thinkers, and dreamers. Jallu Raymaker has masterfully created an sonic environment that is as soaringly musical and soul-stirring as it is laced with playfully, delightfully impish whimsy. The dance world that develops around this soundtrack belongs entirely to the dancers themselves who are expertly guided through joint choreography by Jndi Laville and Tazzy-who has expertly balanced sharing her time choreographing and playing a whimsical fairy on stage!
The deep, green heart of the woods themselves have been brought to life by the transformative sets by Milo Enyo and the atmospheric skyboxes provided by Aquaria Amethyst. The whole forest comes alive in a living, breathing masterpiece with the subtle digital alchemy of Ashton von Perkele providing us with all the dancing particles and custom textures that sparkle like the very first light of morning in the forest. Every moment on stage feels like looking at a canvas that is seamlessly bridging technology and the human spirit.
Each character has a perfectly captured voice in their exquisitely crafted costumes designed by Ull Eyre. From the light, dancing presence of the Fairies and the poised grace of the Elves (who welcome the marvelous Suzi Herberg to this ensemble), through to the wild, earthbound energy of the Fauns and the vibrant bloom of the Flower Spirits, the characters individually represent the very spirit of the awakening of nature. And documenting all of this beauty is Sepp Schimmer, the very heart and mind that penned the narrative and the artistic vision that brings the production to the stage as director, as well as offering his services behind the camera.
